What Is Black Friday And Cyber Monday?

Black Friday

The Black Friday craze began in America in 1952 and was the name for the day following Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday of November. It is widely regarded as the beginning of the country’s Christmas shopping season and therefore the period in which retail companies see their biggest profits. Black Friday started to gain popularity in the UK from around 2015 and is quickly becoming the largest shopping day of the year.

Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday was coined in 2005 and is a marketing term for the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday in America. Like Black Friday, it is a day where electronic retailers give large discounts on products to entice customers to make a sale. It has become the online equivalent to Black Friday and offers a way for smaller retail websites (like me and you!) to compete with the larger chains.

What does this all mean to you?

As a business owner, Black Friday and Cyber Monday could mean OPPORTUNITY. It is a great time where people are starting to get into the festive spirit (or trying mercilessly to hide away from it all) and are ready to spend some cash on their loved ones (or slightly annoying relatives).

By getting your company involved in either day, you could be reaching lots more customers who are ready to snap up your products at discounted prices. Social media, such as Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, is a great way to spread the message of Black Friday offers to a wider audience and persuade customers to check out your products or services.

Wait – haven’t Black Friday and Cyber Monday already been for 2017?

We hear you loud and clear – and you’re right.

However, here at SSAYY, we have noticed that lots of people still don’t know how these days operate and how they suddenly came to fruition here in the UK. So, we have endeavoured to answer these questions for you!

And although both days have already passed us by for 2017, you can never have too much preparation time for nationwide events such as these. We recommend planning early for both costs and extra products you may need for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2018 if you are thinking about getting involved.

What is SSAYY doing to get involved?

As a provider of electronic equipment such as cash drawers, printers and complete epos systems, SSAYY will be participating in Cyber Monday 2018, so stay up to date with our social media in to see what great offers we have in the pipeline for a business like yours!
